Ya gotta give me props

Some people think I'm just a character designer. Some people think I'm just a prop designer. The real answer is I'm BOTH. While working on DEXTER'S and PPG, we would design characters, props, and effects. (One or two of these is from JOHNNY TEST, which I freelanced while supervising characters on another show) Here's a sampling of some of my prop designs:

Simple props like these are fun, too:

BOOM.

Coming soon: GIANT ROBOTS

  10. Thanks for all the compliments, guys; I'm also enjoying all your blogs, too!

Don, my first animation gig was The *New* Pink Panther (The one where they decided he needed to talk.) That one lasted for only 6 months (A quick 13 eps.), but the whole Dexter's Lab/Powerpuff Girls/Samurai Jack thing lasted 7 years. Sometimes ya get lucky, and sometimes ya gotta hustle to find your next job. Doing good work and making friends are key to staying employed.

  11. hey thanks so much for the quick answer to my questions...I wish I knew a way to message you privately so I am not having to ask you questions in your comments section.

another couple quick questions, I have a bachelors degree in animation, its been a year and I barely get any freelance work especially in the fields I want to work in (basically the work that you are doing)...can you give me a critique of my work, it would be greatly appreciated especially from someone who is already worked in the industry I am shooting for. any other advice would be lovely!

  16. Hi Chris,

I found your link on Toru Fukuda's site.

Ah, prop and vehicle design truly the most difficult off all cartoon disciplines (at least for me).

    Keep up the good work!
